Richmond Equestrian Centre changed ownership in June 2018. New owners, Mr and Mrs Andrew and Abigail Turnbull, were the Organisers for their first horse trials, Richmond Horse Trials (2), last year. They largely kept the format the same whilst making a few changes which really improved the feel of the event. Richmond Horse Trials runs BE90, BE100, Novice and Intermediate classes over three days of competition. This year RHT have announced that they will be supporting Help for Heroes (and specifically Phoenix House at Catterick Garrison). There will be a tombola held at the event in aid of this fantastic charity – any donations of prizes will be greatly received. Andrew and Abigail’s second horse trials will be Richmond Horse Trials (1) 2019, held 3rd – 5th May 2019. Preparations are well underway, and entries are currently open.
Donna and Rennie Wood, who manage REC Arenas based at Richmond Equestrian Centre, have been working hard to ensure that the show jumping arenas are in their usual tip-top condition for the event. The arenas have recently been refurbished with brand new surface from Equestrian Surfaces and a new full set of Aluminium state of the art show jumps, which made their debut at RHT (2) 2018, will be used again in 2019. The courses will be designed and built once again by Tracey Barraclough, so expect to see some impressive tracks in an outstanding location.
Jamie Innes and Moray Nicholson, our cross-country designers, have been working closely to create the usual interesting and stunning courses for the competitors with plenty of questions for both horse and rider. Two water complexes add to the variety of the 4 courses with all competitors taking on both.
The ground at Richmond is managed extremely carefully throughout the year with the Horse Trials in mind in order to maintain the high reputation that has been built up over the years for perfect dressage and cross country conditions.
Cross country course interactive maps will be available shortly.
The Richmond Horse Trials team are extremely grateful to the army of volunteers, without whom it would not be possible to run the events to such a high standard. RHT is always looking for people, with or without equestrian experience, to join the team. Please get in touch if you feel you can help in any way. Email email@example.com or call 07769 216595.
